About The Position

The Professional Nursing Clinical Coordinator is a designated member of faculty who works under the supervision of the Associate Dean of the Professional Nursing and designated Program Coordinators and is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the philosophy and objectives specific to the clinical requirements of the programs (Day BSN & EW AAS Programs). Responsible for planning and organizing nursing clinical experiences, including clinical sites and facilities, faculty and preceptor orientation, and preceptor assignments. Assists faculty in creating high quality clinical experiences for nursing students by serving as a liaison between faculty and clinical agencies. The Professional Nursing Clinical Coordinator actively engages in scholarly pursuits to enhance metaprofessional skills and support learning in the areas of educational theory, instructional design and delivery, assessment, and systematic evaluation relative to both residential and distance education methods. Each member of the faculty shall maintain professional competence in their specific discipline through such activities as practice, continuing education programs, conferences, workshops, seminars, academic courses, research projects, and professional writing. The faculty member participates in community and institutional service activities which contribute to the mission of RHS and RCHS and performs other duties as assigned. As a member of the faculty with Clinical Coordinator responsibilities, this individual has a limited teaching workload per semester (didactic/clinical/lab) in order to complete specific clinical-related assignments and responsibilities to include but not limited to clinical remediation plans, curriculum assessment, and orientation of new faculty to the program's clinical sites and requirements. This position is not eligible for workload overload compensation. Essential functions are fundamental job duties, knowledge, skills and abilities that are necessary to perform the position. Requirements

Masters Degree, Nursing (Required)
3-4 years Clinical or teaching experience, or combination (within the last 5 years) (Required)
Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required)
CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)

Nice To Haves

Experience in a clinical education setting; formal didactic teaching experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Facilitate the selection and approval of new facilities and sites (suitable for the achievement of Student Learning Objectives) as needed for the successful placement of students throughout Professional Nursing Programs
Collaborate with Riverside Health Educational Contracts and Clinical Rotations Office personnel to ensure agency contracts are completed and current.
Coordinate and facilitate student clinical placements within Riverside and other external facilities.
Facilitate faculty orientation to clinical education requirements of the programs and orientation to clinical sites
Responsible for maintaining, evaluating, and analyzing clinical site data to ensure continued appropriateness for student clinical rotation placements and achievement of SLO's.
Responsible for the reporting of student clinical hours data (i.e. annual Medicare reports, social accountability documentation) as directed
Collaborate with Program leadership and faculty members to ensure programs' clinical objectives are met as well as achievement of accreditation/regulatory requirements
As an active member of the nursing faculty, evaluate activities that support learning, including instructional design, delivery (both residential and distance methods), assessment, course management, and academic advising.

Accountable for program, student, and graduate outcomes related to course pass rates, NCLEX exam pass rates, student retention, and student/graduate satisfaction
Engage in scholarly activities in instructor's area of expertise including discovering, developing, and/or creating new knowledge, disseminating information, and translating information into products or services of value to the college.
Participate in non-teaching responsibilities (service activities) that contribute to the achievement of goals and objectives of the institution and the profession.
