The Professional Interpreter I, II position at the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind (WVSDB) involves providing American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting and reverse interpreting services for Deaf and hearing consumers within the WVSDB residential program environment. The interpreter will facilitate communication through the use of sign language, spoken English, cultural mediation, and knowledge about visual accessibility. This role requires adherence to the Interpreter Code of Ethics and involves interpreting in various settings, including parent meetings, staff meetings, and administrative meetings. Additionally, the interpreter will provide ASL technical assistance through informal workshops for families and staff, and assist with the implementation and management of WVSDB's ASL Professional Development Plan for residential direct student services staff.
