The UNM Prevention and Populations Sciences (PPS) division is seeking a recent college graduate (bachelor’s degree) interested in receiving real-world experience conducting community-engaged prevention research, program evaluation, and public health surveillance. The Professional Intern position is designed to provide training and experience for a recent college graduate to prepare them for a professional position in a field related to health promotion and the prevention of disease and injury. The position will be part of a motivated multi-disciplinary team conducting research studies and evaluation to improve the health and wellbeing of those living in New Mexico. The position will assist the team in all aspects of the projects which focus on evaluating community-based programs to improve health equity, and monitoring and preventing adolescent health risk behaviors. Duties include assisting with study recruitment and qualitative and quantitative data collection, management, analysis, and reporting. The position will also conduct literature reviews and will draft presentations and other dissemination products on various topics. Work will be completed under the supervision of PPS faculty and staff. This position is intended to provide the intern with the skills and knowledge needed to perform the duties of a Research Scientist 1 or HS/Associate Scientist 1 position at the PPS in the future.
