About The Position

Due to recent promotions, the City of Springfield's Department of Public Works is seeking qualified applicants for two separate Professional Engineers (with option to underfill as Engineer III) in the Traffic Engineering Division and the Transportation Management Division. Responsibilities for the Traffic Engineering position will include developing and analyzing planning studies such as traffic impact studies, traffic volume and speed studies, safety studies and crash data analysis, parking studies; designing and managing projects for traffic calming, sidewalks, and intersection improvements; and reviewing development plans for code compliance and access management. For the Transportation Management position, responsibilities will include designing and managing signalized intersection improvement projects, developing and deploying intelligent transportation systems using a systems engineering approach, and creating and reviewing traffic control plans for construction projects and special events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline.
  • Four years of experience in engineering work for Professional Engineer position.
  • Three years progressively responsible engineering experience for Engineer III underfill option.
  • Must possess an Engineering Intern (EI) certificate from a State Board of registration for Professional Engineers within probationary period for Engineer III.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for the EI certification.
  • Must possess a Professional Engineer's license.
  • Must possess MO license as issued by the Missouri State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers within six months of employment.

Responsibilities
