About The Position

Will serve as the Assistant to the Regional Director of Operations. Responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: training, supervising, and coordinating of technicians, and administrative support staff; attending, participating in, and conducting meetings; planning and completing projects and assignments; monitoring funding, materials, and allocation of resources; and coordinating with both internal and external customers. Assist with technical reviews of plans, projects, and review documents. Coordinating with Resident Engineers/Assistant Resident Engineers to meet Program needs. Designing Operations delivered paving and drainage projects. Responsibilities may include serving a role within the incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

Requirements

  • New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below
  • Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Management, Construction Engineering Management Technology, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning and Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees.
  • One year of full-time engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways/roadways, railroads, bridges, airports, waterways, building structures, or traffic management and safety systems.
  • Promotional: You must have a New York State Professional Engineer's License and current registration AND be a qualified employee of New York State AND have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows: Assistant Engineer (Civil/Transportation).
