Join us in this professional level technical and administrative engineering position in support of the Water Supply Section, working with water, wastewater, and reclaimed water utilities and/or water supply authorities planning and implementing large-scale, regional projects in coordination with project teams, cooperators, and other staff. Responsibilities

• Analyzes all features associated with the development of alternative water supply, and reclaimed water projects including feasibility, planning, design, cost effectiveness, and construction of project components based on sound engineering principles.
• Conducts technical review of projects within expected time frames and established requirements. Applies appropriate analytical techniques to water resource projects and makes sound recommendations.
• Performs project management duties, including preparation and evaluation of requests for proposals and bids, review of applications for our Cooperative Funding Initiative, contract negotiations, contractor oversight, and cost tracking against budgeted funds.
• Serves as a technical resource and liaison between water supply utilities, other agencies, local governments, consultants, and members of the public.
• Prepares reports including recommendations, agreements, specifications, contracts, and other related correspondences, and updates key stakeholders as needed.
• Communicates scientific and technical information in various formats such as charts, graphs, briefings, reports, and/or presentations.
• Provides periodic guidance to entry-level engineers, technicians, students, and other District staff on appropriate engineering practices, depending on experience.
• Uses appropriate software, databases, modeling systems, and other technology.
• Depending on experience, may act as the technical contact, coordinator, or lead on large scale regional teams, and oversee the work of assigned staff or contractors.
• Participates in and coordinates in emergency management activities, other departmental activities, and performs other duties as assigned.
• Provides technical guidance in support of long-range water supply and water resource development planning.
• Coordinates with and participates in Regional, State, and National reclaimed and potable water organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related field.
• Florida Professional Engineer License.
• Valid driver's license.
