About The Position

The Professional Compliance Specialist at Providence Public Schools is responsible for developing systems and strategies for administrative processes related to ESL certification, emergency certification, renewals, compliance monitoring, recordkeeping, reporting functions, and new hire certification orientation meetings. This role requires extensive knowledge of educator licensure regulations and the ability to work independently while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in human resource management preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a fast-paced HR department.
  • Extensive knowledge of RIDE educator licensure regulations or willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of school system operations related to licensure and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and with urgency, planning and coordinating process flows.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Access, and Excel.
  • Experience with electronic human resource information systems, preferably Lawson, AESOP, and Novatime.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Highly organized and able to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Support the expansion of teacher ESL Certification by processing emergency certificates and tuition reimbursement.
  • Support the approval of certification renewal requirements.
  • Implement licensure compliance regulations.
  • Collaborate with the onboarding team to ensure all new staff complete their onboarding compliance requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement a monitoring system for annual compliance requirements.
  • Maintain applicant data, files, and other records as needed.
  • Process Emergency Certificates, Expert Residency, and related documents, maintaining both paper and electronic records.
  • Create and disseminate reports related to certification and compliance.
  • Coordinate compliance with human resources policies, collective bargaining agreements, and employment laws.
  • Maintain a preliminary certification database, including ESL certifications.
  • Develop and conduct support sessions for emergency certified educators.
  • Serve as a liaison to the department of education on certification compliance matters.
  • Work with the HR team on projects related to certification compliance and employee retention.
  • Provide outreach and support for educator license renewal and monitor renewal requirements.
  • Provide technical support for online compliance requirements as needed.
  • Track and summarize data related to compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with network leaders and building administrators for compliance-related items.
  • Streamline communication around compliance expectations and supports.
  • Monitor completion of annual orientation compliance items.
  • Maintain expertise about current trends in educator certification.
  • Design and deliver mandatory new hire compliance training for new hires.
