About The Position

The Professional CCG/Flight Paramedic at UPMC is a critical care transport team member responsible for providing advanced life support and care for critically ill or injured patients during ground and air transports. This role requires adherence to established protocols and standards, independent judgment in emergency situations, and collaboration with a medical command physician when necessary. The position involves a commitment to patient confidentiality, safety, and the overall mission of the STAT MedEvac system.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of experience at an ALS service.
  • EMSVO within 1 year of hire.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam with specific height/weight restrictions.
  • Eligibility to receive medical command authorization from the Medical Director.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to any STAT MedEvac base site as assigned.
  • Ability to complete the prescribed orientation program, including classroom and clinical rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients in adherence to established protocols and standards of care.
  • Demonstrate skills, competencies, and judgment necessary to provide patient care in any environment.
  • Participate in developing and completing research projects.
  • Ensure patient and family confidentiality and dignity at all times.
  • Document appropriate assessment, interventions, and other pertinent patient information promptly.
  • Collect and process demographic, medical necessity, and billing information.
  • Participate constructively in the peer-review-driven quality improvement program.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and ensure crew is logged onto the computer duty roster.
  • Maintain a clean patient environment and crew quarters.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to all requests for service.
  • Ensure safe operation of the patient-laden stretcher and maintain safety protocols.
  • Complete all official documentation promptly, including payroll and expense reports.
  • Adhere to rules for scheduling and ensure the safety of patients and others.
  • Utilize appropriate safety channels to report safety concerns and enhance a safe work environment.
  • Establish rapport with customers and maintain positive relationships in high-stress environments.
  • Participate in outreach activities representing UPMC and STAT MedEvac system.
  • Maintain fitness for duty and adhere to employee health requirements.
