About The Position

The Products Systems Engineering Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing robust systems engineering processes, establishing tools, and training programs, and overseeing systems engineering activities across all product development efforts. The ideal candidate will have systems engineering and technical leadership experience on aerospace and defense programs. The candidate will apply DfX principles, including design for manufacturability, reliability, test, and cost. The Products Systems Engineering Lead will report to Voyager's VP of Product Development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience working in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, including in system architecting, requirements definition, system integration, design, analysis, test, and verification.
  • Ability to demonstrate engineering principles and concepts.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills; able to sort through complex issues and develop clear solutions, provide in-depth technical assessments, and identify, address, and resolve issues and risks.
  • Experience in requirements development and analysis, and the development of systems engineering-related documents including requirements/specifications, interface control documents, and validation & verification plans.
  • Experience in requirements management tools such as Jama Connect, DOORS.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders/customers from NASA and DoD agencies to commercial industry.
  • Effective interpersonal and team skills to engage at both the peer and management levels.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communications and presentation skills; able to clearly articulate ideas, recommendations, and options to the customer and senior leaders.
  • Highly organized individual, capable of handling multiple competing priorities; able to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and quickly adjust in a dynamic environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of program or technical leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated systems engineering process development/improvement experience.
  • Familiarity with aerospace systems engineering standards/guides such as the NASA SE Handbook and/or INCOSE SE Handbook.
  • Knowledgeable in spacecraft subsystems, components and designs.
  • Knowledgeable in PCB/PCBA, FPGA, microcontroller, embedded software design, development, integration and testing.
  • Knowledgeable in industry standards such as NASA 7123.1, SMC-S-016, IPC-2200, IPC-6010, IPC-610, and the NASA-STD-8739 series, as well as other critical aerospace and defense requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in PM practices such as the NASA 7120.5 Space Flight Program and Project Management Requirements.
  • Relevant experience engaging government and commercial customers to advance projects and initiatives at varying degrees of complexity through engineering management.
  • Proficiency in various enterprise tools, including enterprise resource planning, product data management, product lifecycle management, quality management, manufacturing resource planning, and engineering design and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and systems engineering subject matter expertise in support of concept development, requirements management, design, manufacturing, integration, and test for Voyager's products.
  • Develop and implement robust systems engineering processes, establish tools and training programs, and oversee systems engineering activities across all product development efforts.
  • Lead and oversee the development of product requirements, specifications, and identification of applicable standards.
  • Support project planning, including the development of cost, schedule, and technical baselines for product development activities.
  • Provide support for production, delivery, and post-delivery customer operations.
  • Apply DfX principles, including design for manufacturability, reliability, test, and cost to improve Voyager product offerings.
  • Apply engineering principles and concepts and analytical and problem-solving skills to solve complex issues.
  • Develop clear solutions, provide in-depth technical assessments, and proactively identify, address, and resolve issues and risks to drive risk-informed decision-making and product lifecycle sustainability.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards throughout the product development process.
  • Identify, capture, and apply lessons learned in support of continuous process improvement.
  • Evaluate and produce products of a technical nature using technical rigor, adequacy, completeness, and appropriate application of specialty engineering disciplines as standard processes.
  • Perform engineering analysis on organizational technical processes; suggests process improvements that increase efficiency and/or effectiveness of operations as required.
