The Products and Privacy Counsel is a key member of the Legal Department, responsible for advising on legal matters related to products and services supporting carriers, freight brokers, and shippers, including payments, settlement, SaaS platforms, data products, and network‑based solutions. The role will operate at the intersection of a regulated bank and a fintech platform, ensuring products are designed and delivered in a manner consistent with applicable banking, consumer protection, and privacy laws. This role will serve as a strategic legal partner to the business, providing guidance across the full product lifecycle—from product design and commercialization through contracting and ongoing operations—while also advising on privacy, marketing, and regulatory compliance matters. The Counsel will work closely with cross-functional leadership teams to deliver practical, business‑oriented legal advice that enables growth and innovation across Triumph’s brands.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA‑accredited law school.
  • Valid and active law license issued by a state bar (including any U.S. territory or the District of Columbia).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney, demonstrated through work experience, military experience, or training.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide legal advice in a fast‑paced, product‑driven environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and writing skills.
  • Detail‑oriented while maintaining a practical, business‑focused approach to legal risk.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with cross‑functional partners and senior leaders.
  • Hands‑on, solutions‑oriented approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Ability to solve complex legal and commercial problems creatively while exercising sound judgment.

  • Proven experience working with customers, vendors, and strategic partners.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of institutional policies, procedures, and the regulatory environments in which transportation‑adjacent and financial products operate.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative and inclusive work environment.

  • Experience working with fintech, payments, SaaS, financial services, or other highly-regulated companies strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as subject matter expert on fintech regulatory issues and provide guidance on banking products, including consumer protection (e.g., UDAAP), payments (e.g., NACHA, Reg E), and privacy (e.g., GLBA, state privacy laws, and emerging AI laws).
  • Partner with business teams to provide legal, business, and strategic advice on the development and launch of new products, features, and changes to existing products.
  • Draft and review consumer-facing disclosures, terms of service, and marketing materials for banking and transportation products to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Act as primary legal partner to the marketing team, providing practice, risk-calibrated guidance on campaigns, promotions, customer communications, and brand initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including procurement, product, engineering, information security, to guide privacy and product-related decisions.
  • Refine and oversee enterprise data governance frameworks, including data retention, destruction, defensible deletion, and records management.
  • Advise on vendor and third-party risk management as it relates to data ruse, privacy, and product functionality, including negotiation of data rights, security, and compliance provisions.
  • Support regulatory examination, audits, and internal reviews related to product, marketing and privacy practices.
  • Independently resolve moderately complex legal issues, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives and customer experience considerations.
  • Serve as the primary legal contact for assigned transportation product lines and business stakeholders with minimal oversight.
  • Collaborate across departments to identify, assess, and mitigate legal, regulatory, and operational risks impacting carriers, brokers, and shippers.
  • Lead or support legal initiatives of varying scope and complexity related to transportation products, customer agreements, and regulatory developments.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
