About The Position

This position leads complex maintenance and reliability focused productivity projects for LGUS, partnering with business stakeholders at multiple levels to align on the needs and opportunities of the organization. The primary focus will be on implementing best practices and reliability improvement projects nationally for the Bulk Business. The candidate will identify, prioritize, build regional and national support also manage and implement productivity improvements across all regions. Scope: This position works under minimal supervision with guidance in only most complex situations. Responsible for oversight and/or leadership of multiple productivity projects which are broad in nature, often across multiple sites. The role requires strong knowledge of maintenance and reliability. Responsibilities include teaching the application of advanced productivity tools and discipline as needed, overcoming resistance to change, achieving the desired cost impact targets by skillfully implementing productivity projects, collaborating with and learning from stakeholders at various levels, in particular, senior engineering, operations directors/managers, product management, technicians, reliability, distribution, and maintenance personnel to align and drive initiatives for operating plants within the United States. Utilize learnings and system interdependencies to improve plant/product line KPI’s, identify cost reduction/capital project opportunities, and increase plant profitability.

Requirements

  • Ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of maintenance and reliability
  • Familiarity with current maintenance standards, predictive technologies and best practices.
  • Must be a self-starter, with a proven ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and lead/influence teams
  • Project management experience is a plus
  • Demonstrate experience in process monitoring, troubleshooting and optimization
  • Strong analytical skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to influence required
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%25 as needed
  • Bachelor's degree Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or graduate degree in a field of science
  • 5+ years engineering experience in equipment design, reliability, maintenance, production, or projects associated with the chemical, industrial gases or refining industries

Responsibilities

  • Creates value through completion of successful productivity improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with local maintenance/reliability/ process engineering teams to move identified issues into reliability, efficiency and/or general productivity and or cost reduction projects.
  • Monitor and follow up with smaller plant and region implemented projects to reduce cycle time and maximize benefits.
  • Propagation of established best practices impacting reliability throughout the sites.
  • Ownership of targeted reliability improvement projects across all plants.
  • Development of tools to focus efforts on strategical improvements to increase the reliability of our sites and reduce overall penalties to the business due to downtime or unplanned reliability events.
  • Implement new tools and technologies to leverage the national and regional reliability centers capabilities and efficiency.
  • Improve turnaround planning and execution process, minimizing schedule and costs.
  • Quantifying the financial benefits using appropriate metrics in alignment with productivity guidelines
  • Validating benefits with finance and ensuring accurate report of benefits for implemented projects
  • Build and manage a project portfolio to meet the yearly expected financial targets.
  • Lead a portfolio of projects of varying complexity annually prioritizing by expected benefits and execution effort.
  • Translates strategic business direction into actionable plans to meet the needs of the business and key stakeholders.
  • Solve complex problems and identify innovative solutions.
  • Identifies productivity opportunities across the organization.
  • Facilitates idea generation through collaborative efforts (e.g. brainstorming, lean events, and stakeholder engagement)
  • Develops robust event/project strategies with appropriate risk profiles.
  • Establishes a strong leadership presence with project team(s).
  • Align with region business and operations management aligning on prioritization, strategy and support required.
