About The Position
The Production Worker plays a crucial role in the overall operations of the Precoat Metals plant located in Northgate, IL. This position is essential for maintaining the efficiency and productivity of the plant's operations. As a Production Worker, you will be expected to assist in various areas of the plant, which may include coating lines, slitting, shipping, receiving, paint vault, and packaging. Your versatility and willingness to adapt to different tasks will be key to your success in this role. In this position, you will be responsible for retrieving and transporting bare coils, ensuring a steady flow of metal to the production lines. This will involve safely operating cranes, forklifts, and upenders while ensuring that no damage occurs to the materials or equipment. You will also be tasked with trimming, packaging, and banding finished coils according to customer specifications, utilizing the appropriate skids, bands, pads, and wrapping materials. Quality control is a significant aspect of this role, as you will need to inspect coils for defects and report any issues you identify. Additionally, you will be required to read and interpret production schedules accurately, ensuring that you can identify the correct skid and package specifications. Accurate record-keeping is essential, as you will need to log coil weights, order numbers, and other relevant information. Loading and unloading coils from trucks will also be part of your responsibilities, requiring physical strength and attention to safety protocols.
