About The Position

Canam Steel Corp is actively seeking self-motivated and safety-conscious individuals to join their production team as a Production Worker. This full-time position offers comprehensive benefits and the potential for new employees to earn up to $82,000 in total compensation annually, based on a 50-hour work week. This total compensation package includes a base rate, shift differential, overtime pay, and both retention and production bonuses. Further earning opportunities are available through referral bonuses and mentoring incentives. The core responsibilities of this role involve performing welding operations and associated tasks, such as gathering necessary parts, setting up materials, and welding joist products. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the completeness and quality of all welds, performing repairs as needed, and maintaining a positive, clean, and organized work environment. Daily cleaning and area maintenance are also required, along with a commitment to safe and productive work practices. The role may also include other supervisor-assigned duties such as cleaning and steel scrap removal.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three years of experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to stand continuously, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Frequently reach overhead with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend crouch, or crawl.
  • Climb or balance frequently.
  • Capable of lifting 60 lbs or more.
  • Close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work all schedules (1st Shift: Monday - Friday 6AM-2:30PM / Saturday 6AM-12PM; 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday 3PM-11:30PM / Saturday 12PM-6PM).
  • Occasional weekend availability needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs production welding in a fast paced environment.
  • Read and interpret weld symbols on shop drawings and blueprints.
  • Ensures that all welds are complete and of good quality; repair bad welds as necessary.
  • Maintains a positive, clean and orderly work environment.
  • Performs daily cleaning and maintenance of area.
  • Works in a safe and productive manner.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to; cleaning, steel scrap removal, and other production related jobs.
