Requirements

  • High School Diploma or one to three months experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Read, write and communicate as it relates to the job and safety regulations.
  • Learn to use the required equipment and tools to perform tasks.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to meet company performance standards for the job.
  • Perform all job functions safely.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to six months’ experience in a production facility.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, sort, weigh and pack fresh carrots in a timely manner.
  • Collect, rotate, dump and store raw product into cull trailers.
  • Rotate stock in cold storage on rare occasion.
  • Inventory stock in cold storage.
  • Accomplish all other tasks requiring the use of specified heavy equipment.
  • Rotate through line stations every two hours or as directed.
  • Ensure the use of proper packaging supplies are positioned at the assigned workstation.
  • Manually sort fresh carrots by size and consistency on a moving conveyor.
  • Place carrots on a scale and check weight (1, 2, 5 lb. packages) on moving conveyor.
  • Manually twist the bag and use kwik lok to close bags and place the finished bag on master-pack conveyor.
  • Manually obtain finished bags of product from conveyor and place into master-carton/bags/tray/IFCO according to units.
  • Build boxes by hand, grasp flattened box, shape into box form, fold flaps down and push tabs into locked position, apply sticker with code date and product code.
  • Visually inspect carrots on conveyors and remove non-conforming product to rework tub.
  • Keep area clear, clean, and place trash/conforming product in proper receptacles.
  • At the end of the shift, remove raw product and solid waste from food contact surface and properly clean and sanitize the production facility area/grounds and equipment.
  • Cover and protect sensitive equipment with canvas/plastic cover.
  • Apply cleaning chemicals to all machinery.
  • Use centralized and/or portable foaming systems.
  • Help disassemble equipment.
  • Apply heavy-duty chemicals to breakdown accumulated sugars.
  • Apply concentrated sanitizer to walls and overhead.
  • Other duties as assigned.
