About The Position

The Wheel Finishing position is responsible for the hand finishing and treatment processes of cheese wheels, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards. The role involves transferring, inspecting, and packaging cheese products while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred (GED).
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and conversions.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Transfer and stage product into assigned work areas.
• Accurately record ingredient amounts and lot numbers on production work orders.
• Identify cheese on hold and issue cheese to work orders.
• Inspect cheese and materials for mold and foreign materials.
• Manually apply rub ingredients according to product work instructions.
• Fill treating tubs with appropriately sized cheese wheels and ingredients for treatment process.
• Transfer cheese wheels to drying rack for curing and packaging.
• Package and label finished items per product work instructions.
• Complete daily sanitation in accordance with a Master Cleaning Schedule.
• Handle and mix cleaning chemicals in line with sanitation duties.
• Manually clean and scrape 20-pound wheels of cheese.
• Ensure all first in first-out principles are maintained throughout the manufacturing and packaging process.
• Comply with all company Safety, HACCP, and GMP policies.
• Immediately report any food safety or quality issues to management.
