About The Position

Must be capable of performing a variety of welding functions, such as machine set up, material preparation, blueprint reading and successfully welding materials together. This is a production job; you will be required to produce parts in a timely manner according to time standards. This job requires that you be able to weld various straps, plates and tubes together in production runs. Welding machines are wire feed (hard wire - spray arc), welds are continuous 1” to 6” , materials used are .06” though .75”

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift and other mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read and comprehend measuring tools such as a tape measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be willing to learn and practice continuous improvement techniques such as, but not limited to, 5S and set-up reduction.
  • The ability to participate and lead in a team-oriented environment with the willingness to assist and train others.
  • Demonstrate safe behavior and support department/plant safety goals in a continuous improvement process.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends before and after schedule as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • The ability to write routine reports and correspondence, as well as speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Read, learn, understand and interpret blueprints and work instructions, and other instructions written or verbal, to complete assembly of products or components according to established guidelines and quality standards
  • Pass in house welding test (1G or better
  • Read tape measure, use calipers, use a micrometer
  • Knowledge of Basic Math: add, subtract, divide, multiply, convert decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals
  • Physically capable to do the job (twisting, bending and lifting)
  • Responsible and dependable
  • Good communication skills
