The position involves performing general manufacturing processes with a focus on welding. The employee will work from complex blueprints, sketches, weld symbols, and process sheets to establish procedures and sequence of operations. This includes setting up tooling and fixtures, as well as laying out components to be welded. The role requires the ability to identify and devise basic tooling, ensuring that all weldments meet quality standards. Additionally, the employee will be responsible for their own material handling and must adhere to good housekeeping and safety practices. Maintaining welding equipment and the work area for safe and efficient operation is also a key responsibility. The employee will need to initiate corrective actions to resolve fairly complex problems and report any major malfunctions or ongoing difficulties to their supervisor. Assisting others as directed and performing miscellaneous duties as required are also part of the job. The position requires operating cutting and slicing machines, which involves pressing buttons, pulling levers, or depressing pedals to start and operate the machinery. Adjusting machine controls to alter position, alignment, speed, or pressure is also necessary. The physical demands of the job include standing and/or sitting for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds frequently.
