The individual in the Production Utility Worker role will obtain, remove and inspect components and finished goods while contributing to the team effort by helping to minimize disruption in the workflow by following all established procedures. Requirements

Prefer High school diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent experience.
Must make simple arithmetic calculations such as use of decimal and fractions.
Prefer 1 year experience in a production environment.
Must be certified to operate a forklift.
Follows detailed instructions and standard practices and must usually be able to make, decisions require some judgment and planning to choose prescribed alternatives which detail course of action.
Requires initiative.
Employee has limited knowledge of confidential information.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently during a workday.
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. to shoulder height and carry 30 lbs. at shoulder height to stack.
Constant standing and walking, and over 50% of time on the job is bending, stooping, and reaching.
Frequent exposure to one or more disagreeable elements such as dust and fumes.
Workflow is controlled by constant pressure for completion.
Workflow builds to peaks in order to meet deadlines.
Extended work hours may be required.

Responsibilities

Obtains materials needed for scheduled production by lifting, carrying, and using hand material movers or forklifts.
Manually loads, secures and moves finished good pallets to designated work areas. Involves lifting, carrying, carts, hand material movers, forklifts etc.
Stages and coordinates transfer of components, finished goods, and work-in-process from and to manufacturing locations.
Removes, moves, or stores materials in warehouse according to established procedures.
Maintains high quality standards of production by inspection of all products and notifies Line Lead or Production Supervisor of any product that does not meet required standards.
Contributes to the team effort by helping out on tasks as needed and communicating on a regular basis to minimize disruption in the workflow or to alert proper personnel of problems.
Completes and maintains all necessary production records as assigned.
Monitors proper working functions of all equipment in assigned area and reports all malfunctions to Line Lead, Production Supervisor or Director of Operations.
Operates all assigned machinery as directed, while following safe operating procedures.
Assembles, fabricates, and packages all products under the direction of the Line Lead, Production Supervisor or Director of Operations.
Assists in the training of new employees, temps, or fill-ins.
Sorts, inspects, labels, and/or marks products as required to ensure high quality standards.
Notifies Line Lead, Production Supervisor or Director of Operations if product does not meet required standards.
Makes recommendations for improvements for the efficiency of the operation.
Follows established safety procedures and informs Line Lead, Production Manager or Director of Operations of any unsafe conditions.
Properly uses all required personal protective equipment.
Maintains clean and safe work area, following established procedures and techniques.
Participates in and supports Smithers-Oasis continuous improvement activities.
Supports and leads by example the Core Values of the organization.
Performs other duties as required.
