About The Position

Production Utility Technician, Oddyssey, will be responsible for operating and maintaining the look, feel and vibe of the day-to-day operations and building needs of our Oddyssey Venue as well as executing AREA15 presented and co-produced events. As a Production Utility Technician, Oddyssey, you will build, operate, strike, and properly store all aspects of production including but not limited to: stage deck, truss, cables, consoles, lights, Audio, and accessories. You are directly responsible for the setup and execution of all AREA15 produced and co-produced events. During Event Operations you will be directly responsible for Audio & lighting systems but may also be tasked with assisting other team members in the Production Dept. as assigned by Production Management.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Comfortable working in a creative, entrepreneurial start-up environment, introducing new concepts and innovations.
  • 5 + years of production experience in performing arts center, music venue or similar.
  • Must have working knowledge of production hardware and software including Digital & Analog Audio consoles (X32 & QL1), GrandMA 2/3, electrical layouts, basic Production networking, Video systems and signal flow
  • Strong knowledge of audio-visual systems, signal flow, and digital technology.
  • Must have familiarity with Grand MA 2/3 lighting consoles, rigging, dimmers, and specialized effects (e.g., LED screens, moving lights).
  • Must have expertise in microphones, Digital mixing boards, and audio processing.
  • Ability to think quickly and fix technical issues during live shows.
  • Ability to obtain Boom Lift, Scissor Lift, and Fork Lift Certification (Company will provide training)
  • Capable of lifting heavy equipment and working long, irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend and lift for extended periods of time
  • Ability to function efficiently and amiably in a fast paced, complex and demanding customer service environment
  • Ability to work well within a team and take direction.
  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and write the English language.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft applications. (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Availability for varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in an environment subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, flashing lights, and smoke.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions including but not limited to extreme heat, sun exposure, wind, rain, extreme cold.

Nice To Haves

  • Related experience in production planning, budgeting, execution and management is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with established venue policies such as safety, security, cleanliness and general operation procedures
  • Collaborates with Facilities management on equipment and maintenance needs
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of all production & technical operating areas of Oddyssey.
  • Alert Management of all house equipment and supply inventory
  • Ensures venue compliance with all city and state regulations pertaining to venue occupancy, noise regulations and curfews, parking and traffic management, and ADA access
  • Adhere to department and company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for venue security and patron safety, including but not limited to ensuring guest safety and crowd management, egress, venue policy enforcement, etc. regarding production equipment
  • Implements AREA15's emergency response plans when necessary
  • Create a professional team atmosphere
  • Follow event and venue operating policies and procedures
  • Rig, install, and dismantle lighting fixtures, microphones, sound speakers, mixing consoles, and cabling before and after events.
  • Operate soundboards to mix audio (FOH and monitors) and program & control light boards to manage lighting cues during live performances.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues with audio/lighting equipment under high-pressure, live conditions.
  • Perform routine cleaning, testing, and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Work with directors, producers, and performers to execute the technical vision for the event.
  • Ensure all rigged equipment and cabling comply with safety regulations, including working at heights or with electrical systems.
  • Demonstrate ART! (AREA15's service standards) in every guest interaction.
  • Adhere to department and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional, polished appearance in line with AREA15 standards.
  • Work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
