This role includes both leading a team and managing an individual book of business. We welcome candidates from any location within the United States. Those outside the Greater Cincinnati area may work fully remote. Great American’s culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role that are based in Cincinnati are expected to be on-site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in‑office days are Tuesday–Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Generally, a minimum of 5 years of E&S Property underwriting experience
  • Ability to travel by plane or car 10%-25% of the time, including overnight travel

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred
  • Experience With Recycling, Woodworking and Light Manufacturing Risks is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the daily operations of the Production Underwriting team, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
  • Conducts comprehensive reviews of risk assessments to validate and verify the accuracy of underwriting decisions.
  • Cultivates and maintains strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive profitable growth.
  • Collects and reviews reports and screenings to aid in underwriting decisions.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate documentation of underwriting decisions and ensures compliance with state and federal insurance regulations.
  • Evaluates policy renewals and modifications, identifying opportunities for policy enhancements and risk mitigation.
  • Monitors and evaluates underwriting practices, implementing strategic adjustments to improve overall effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Coordinates products and services promotions, ensuring alignment with market growth objectives and enhancing customer engagement.
  • Leads the development and execution of comprehensive marketing strategies to effectively promote the company’s products to brokers and agents.
  • Leads the analysis of market trends and competitive landscape, identifying strategic opportunities for product enhancements and innovative marketing approaches.
  • Leads marketing initiatives, including presentations, industry events, and broker/agent meetings, to showcase the company’s products and services.
  • Provides technical guidance and ensures staff stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
