Production Test Engineers (PTE) are integral to a manufacturing team, supporting the test process across various product life cycle phases, including development, transition to production, sustained production, and depot activities. PTEs are responsible for validating and ensuring compliance of prime hardware to technical data package requirements and supporting test equipment. They perform troubleshooting and problem-solving for test failures and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, yields, and capacity within test processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with preferred major in electrical engineering
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience with electrical engineering basics
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

  • Validate new or modified test equipment for production use.
  • Ensure the operation of test equipment and associated work instructions are accurate.
  • Ensure test equipment and software meet the test requirements specified for the product.
  • Monitor and improve the test process through analysis of predictive metrics of trends, failure modes, and test yields.
  • Perform preliminary investigation of problem resolution.
  • Develop test flows and contribute to test capacity analysis.
  • Maintain changes to the test equipment technical data package which includes drawings, test instructions, test position manuals, and system software.
  • Assist in non-routine fault isolation, diagnosis and repair of the product or test equipment.
  • Lead root cause and corrective action investigations and present findings.
  • Provide technical training in both product and test equipment to production test specialists and metrology personnel.
