The Production Technician performs mechanical or electro-mechanical sub-assembly work. Direction provided by verbal instructions or established assembly procedures. Requires simple adjusting with liberal tolerances and no fitting. Work is typically performed at a bench and may include walking or standing. Performs bench-type processes to complete mechanical and electrical assemblies / sub-assemblies, using hand tools and electronic tooling. Performs assembly operations that are moderately complex, requiring adjusting, and aligning of components to ordinary tolerances. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: include the following: Performs assembly operations either by wire bonding, soldering, spot welding, staking, or epoxying. Performs assembly under a microscope. Hand solders pins, cables, components, sub-assemblies, and completed units. Operates ultrasonic welding apparatus. Attaches various I.C.s, transistors, resistors, or thermistors to P.C. boards. Performs oil fill operations. Conducts tests for some final units. Performs life testing programs utilizing a computer. Provides training or instruction of co-workers and other employees when needed. May operate turning-center-assisted tig welding to specific programs established by Manufacturing Engineering. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. May rotate to other workstations in the unit. Meets or exceeds departments targets set by supervisor/ managers Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
