Production Technician
About The Position
The Production Associate has shared labor responsibilities with Harvest and Fabrication. The Production Associate has a high level of butcher skills that are used in the Harvest Area for the collection of tissue and the fabrication floor to create value added cuts for Glencoe Pork customers. The Production Associate in the harvest area and fabrication room is responsible for following procedures to process animals, achieving goals set by Harvest Supervisor and Fabrication Room Supervisor online speed, and quality of work in their respective areas. This position contributes to the Harvest Area and Fabrication Floor operations running safely, smoothly, efficiently, cleanly and humanely. Employees must always remain in compliance and contribute to team efforts.
Requirements
- EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of working in a harvest facility preferred but not required
- EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Experience in a harvest facility preferred but not required
- SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
- Work in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and efficiency are key components.
- Ability to be self-motivated.
- Ability to ensure quality product to our customers.
- PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Able to lift and/or carry > 50 lbs
- LANGUAGE ABILITY: Proficient in English
Responsibilities
- Participate in the preparation of the harvest area and fabrication room, workstation, equipment, and tools prior to start of processing.
- Safe, efficient, and precise use of cutting knives and tools in trained areas.
- Cross train in other abattoir areas and activities as needed.
- Comply with HAACP Plan, USDA guidelines, Humane Handling Procedure and MRS procedures and report any non-compliance to management.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Proper PPE use, care, maintenance and cleanliness.
- Avoid cross contamination between dirty and clean areas or outside production floor.
- Follow GMP and sanitation practices when maintaining and cleaning fabrication room equipment.
- Take on additional responsibilities as directed by management.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills.
- Interact professionally with team members and contract personnel.
