About The Position

TAMKO is seeking a Paper Mill Production Technician for its Knoxville, Tennessee facility. This role involves operating and assisting in the paper mill processing facility, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining the quality of materials produced during shifts. The position requires a commitment to safety and operational excellence, with opportunities for on-the-job training and skill development.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a technical school is preferred.
  • Experience with integrated production processes in an industrial environment is preferred.
  • Mechanical/Electrical experience in an industrial environment is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience with SAP, Lean, Six Sigma, and Total Quality Management concepts is preferred.
  • Ability to operate industrial vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational policies is required.
  • Ability to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to learn to operate and maintain large industrial equipment using HMI computers.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of paper mill maintenance and operations is beneficial.
  • Experience with pulp and paper processes and steam systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and assist in the paper mill processing facility.
  • Ensure safety and compliance of operations at the plant.
  • Maintain the quality of material produced during shifts.
  • Safely operate, troubleshoot, maintain, inspect, disassemble, repair, and reassemble machinery and equipment.
  • Operate industrial vehicles including forklifts, skid steers, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and front-end loaders.
  • Complete operator level equipment monitoring, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Cut and weld metal materials such as stainless steel, cast iron, steel, and aluminum.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and manuals.
  • Perform basic computer functions including writing work orders and managing stock room information.
  • Receive and apply instruction from management, supervisors, and peers.
  • Work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, and overtime as required.
