About The Position

The Sort Farm Operator is responsible for efficiently organizing and moving glass from the Cutting department to the IG Lines.

Requirements

  • Consistent work history in glass manufacturing or warehouse setting preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate experience using strategic thinking or analytical skills
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience utilizing power equipment

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety practices and guidelines
  • Operate High Tech Glass Fabrication Equipment
  • Ensure open communication with the manager and team by ensuring radio remains on while working on the plant floor
  • Capability to utilize and acquire knowledge of various software applications
  • Transport racks using rider pallet jack when necessary
  • Perform handloads by manually loading and moving glass when necessary
  • Occasionally remove faulty glass from racks
  • Examine several predicting variables and software, then set up the instruments required to sort the glass.
  • Maintains continuous communication with various departments to ensure proper schedules are completed
  • Ability to multitask to ensure that glass is sorted effectively
  • Safely operate the RICO Power Industrial Truck when needed
  • Inspect empty and loaded racks properly
  • Assist in AGV operations to facilitate the needs of Sort Farms, Cut tables, and furnaces when necessary
  • Ensure AGV’s are performing at an optimal level, communicate to various departments for downtime associated with AGV’s
  • Assist farm operators in the movement of racks throughout the plant as needed
  • Perform housekeeping tasks in the workspace to maintain a clean work area
  • Assist the team, leads, and management in achieving departmental objectives
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • May be required to work overtime, different shifts, and perform additional tasks to meet company needs and deadlines
  • Requires regular in-person attendance
