About The Position

The electro-mechanical/optic technician will be a key member of the instrument production team at 10x Genomics, responsible for the assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and shipment of advanced genomics instruments. This role requires hands-on experience with complex electromechanical and optical systems, ensuring high-quality production standards and contributing to groundbreaking research in various biological fields.

Requirements

  • 2 years associate degree or 1+ years of technician experience in capital equipment production field.
  • Electromechanical/Optical alignment experience.
  • Hands-on experience in assembly and/or testing of complex electromechanical/optic systems.
  • Experience using basic hand tools for assembly and disassembly, including screwdrivers, wrenches, torque-wrenches, soldering equipment, and wiring tools.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills on electrical/electronic/mechanical/laser/optic systems.
  • Strong team collaboration skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
  • Strong communication skills: listening, speaking, writing, and interacting.
  • Flexibility, motivation, and the ability to act independently while balancing organizational needs.
  • Proficient computer skills using Windows, MS-Office, and other PC-based software.
  • Ability to safely lift and manipulate 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant experience in life sciences/laboratory instrumentation production, GMP, GLP, QC, IQ/OQ/PQ, 5S, lean manufacturing, ISO 9001 environments.
  • Experience with automation equipment/instrumentation.
  • Experience building electrical cables and hands-on soldering.
  • Troubleshooting experience using oscilloscopes, DVM, and other test equipment.
  • A sense of urgency and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, integrate, and test a variety of electronic, electro-mechanical, opto-mechanical, and optical sub-assemblies.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and optical systems.
  • Collaborate with NPI/manufacturing engineers to address material quality and design issues following NCR/MRB processes.
  • Execute instrument production operations to maintain the integrity and quality of products.
  • Prepare and pack instruments for shipment.
  • Conduct maintenance and calibration of production equipment.
  • Participate in 5S and Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP).
  • Identify production floor issues and escalate them to management or MSE's attention.
  • Report unsafe operations and practices to management immediately.
  • Follow procedures and work instructions for assembly, integration, and testing.
