About The Position

Purpose of Role: This role is responsible for assembling knife-gate valves, heavy and light pumps (acid and water), and precision valves. This includes accurate fitting, alignment, and adjustment of internal components, as well as installing bearings and rings using a press for acid pumps and valves. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, plus 1–3 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with hand tools such as ratchets, wrenches, and other tools as required.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, and manuals.
  • Strong communication skills for clear written and verbal reports and correspondence.

Responsibilities

  • Safely position and align large pumps and valves using slings, hoists, or overhead cranes.
  • Mount, fit, and align parts to ensure proper movement, tolerance, and operating requirements, following detailed drawings.
  • Adhere to Environmental, Health, and Safety policies as outlined in Weir’s Duty of Care.
  • Install acid pumps in towers and connect to steam jackets for water and air leak testing.
  • Perform pressure tests on valves to verify leak-free performance.
  • Transport finished pumps and valves to shipping using overhead cranes, forklifts, or hand dollies.
  • Report any assembly or testing issues to the supervisor promptly.
  • Notify inspection team upon completion of pumps and valves.
