About The Position

Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Production Team Manager based out of Billerica, MA. The Production Team Manager will play a key part in the daily, weekly and monthly flow and output of the production floor. He/She will guide a designated team to meet operational targets and customer commitments and continuously drive to a sustainable environment that expects: 100% on time, 100% quality and a zero tolerance for unsafe work. This role will have a strong link to the Manufacturing and Operations Management team to help set priorities, raise potential issues, and drive improvement and progress to operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of manufacturing experience required or similar industry experience.
  • 8+ years experience testing and troubleshooting large capital equipment (at component & system level), completing disassembly and reassembly as a result of testing.
  • 8+ years of military training and experience testing and troubleshooting of large military platforms to be considered in lieu of industry experience & degree or technical diploma.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, ERP and work instruction type software is needed.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiar with production planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Possesses basic management, employee relations, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to inspire and lead.

  • Always available onsite during core working hours unless using planned PTO in advance.
  • Ability to stay highly organized and focused.
  • Good computer skills are required.
  • Working knowledge of BoM's, work instructions, drawings, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of 5S, Lean execution in a factory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of EM Assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of component, subsystem and complete assembly test processes is a strong plus.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Improvement of on-time shipments, increases to operational efficiency, and capacity increases through improvements in yield, cycle time, and processes.
  • Develop daily schedules for areas of responsibility to conform with monthly requirements defined by master scheduler/Plant requirements.
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands while optimizing resource utilization.
  • Monitor and analyze key process metrics, such as yield, cycle time, and equipment utilization, to identify trends and drive process optimization strategies.
  • Create and maintain measurements for the team's performance (Daily/monthly goals, inventory accuracy, etc.).
  • Continuously analyze operations in an effort to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Manage resources to accomplish established goals of quality, quantity and cost.
  • Interface effectively with other Group Leads to allocate resources between teams, as needed.
  • Be a frontline and strong advocate for making sure production is done safely and correctly first time through (zero errors).
  • Contribute to direct labor as required during surge times and to meet commitments.
  • Work with management team to set production targets (daily, weekly, monthly - as needed) and guide team to reach them.
  • Communicate a clear set of priorities to team on an ongoing basis.
  • Allocate resources to meet production schedules and targets.
  • Alter work flows as necessary to optimize team headcount and skill sets available.
  • Ensure team completes all administrative tasks to support production systems.
  • Be directly responsible for and accountable to the management of his/her staff with support from Manufacturing Manager.
  • Provide annual reviews, performance feedback and merit discussions.
  • Give coaching and deliver discipline as required.
  • Manage time-off requests, daily time approval and employee attendance.
  • Manage My Success requirements.
  • Work with managers to define, collect data and report metrics to support production targets and team goals.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities and events as needed for improvement targets defined through management goals, objectives and initiatives.
  • Maintain the factory floor to a very high standard of organization.
  • Help develop, maintain and track a list of ongoing continuous improvement activities.
  • Work with management team to optimize the headcount necessary based on the plan and targets.
  • Help to define required training for personnel and then guide team in execution to training plan.
  • Provide input into the performance of the team on an ongoing basis.
  • Lead daily production meetings or other forums where production status, barriers, plans, etc. are discussed and reviewed.
  • Complete administrative work such as inventory investigation, change management analysis and production plan generation.
  • Use mistakes and errors to conduct learning reviews to prevent 'repeats'.
