At GRC our Production Team Lead - 2nd shift, will oversee daily operations within the manufacturing facility. This role involves managing a team of production workers, ensuring safety and efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and meeting production targets. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 2 years in a lead role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data for efficiencies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in using manufacturing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Completed Leadership Classes are also preferred.
  • Experience in Molding also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate activities of production workers.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to team members.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the production floor throughout the shift and lead by example.
  • Hold employees accountable to productivity, quality, attendance, safety, and behavioral expectations.
  • Coach employees on performance concerns and document discussions as needed.
  • Manage employee concerns and conflict professionally while maintaining consistency and accountability.
  • Plan and organize production schedules to meet daily targets.
  • Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed.
  • Ensure machinery and equipment are properly maintained and operated.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams for timely repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain a stable and organized shift by making timely decisions regarding staffing, work assignments, and production priorities without unnecessary escalation.
  • Monitor daily efficiency, downtime, scrap, labor utilization, and production output; take immediate action to correct issues.
  • Ensure operators are assigned appropriately based on training, qualifications, and approved machine certifications.
  • Follow up on unresolved production concerns and ensure issues are communicated and addressed before the end of the shift.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Implement quality control procedures and resolve any production issues.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address non-conformities.
  • Ensure all operators follow standard work instructions, quality procedures, and escalation processes.
  • Verify quality checks, label verification, inspection requirements, and containment activities are completed and documented correctly.
  • Support and enforce quality verification processes to prevent mixed product, incorrect labeling, or nonconforming material from progressing.
  • Enforce safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and housekeeping expectations.
  • Ensure employees are following all required PPE, safety procedures, and equipment operating guidelines.
  • Identify trends in downtime, scrap, productivity, and staffing challenges and develop action plans to improve performance.
  • Participate in cross-functional problem solving and continuous improvement efforts involving production, maintenance, quality, and scheduling.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the production team and management.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, including metrics such as efficiency, output, and downtime.
  • Address and resolve any employee concerns or issues promptly.
  • Ensure clear communication and continuity between shifts through shift handoff notes, pass-downs, and follow-up on unresolved issues.
  • Communicate production issues, staffing concerns, downtime, quality concerns, and recovery plans to management in a timely manner.
  • Use production data, efficiency metrics, downtime reports, and labor information to communicate performance and drive accountability.
