About The Position

The Production Systems Engineer manages all production technology for Chase Oaks in terms of broadcast, integration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and more. This role includes occasional training of volunteers as well as occasionally managing contractors and part-time employees in relevant tasks. The role is primarily focused on equipment but will also serve ministries by operating equipment in certain circumstances. The Systems Engineer will manage incoming, outgoing, and stocked equipment; track and notify the Production Director of the need to purchase expendables; and manage our asset tracking system. All Production staff work together to cross-train and spend time assisting on all manner of projects. A successful candidate is someone who has excellent communication skills, is detail-oriented, and capable of working well with changing priorities and personalities.

Requirements

  • Understanding of networking and infrastructure for audio, video, and lighting
  • Strong ability to organize, plan and prioritize AV production workflows, with knowledge
  • Strong understanding of industry standards in terms of integration and workflows
  • Working knowledge of ProPresenter functions and integrations
  • Strong working knowledge of setup, install, and management of Windows/MacOS operating systems and the hardware associated
  • Professional communication skills: comfortable being the point of contact for any AVL situation to effectively communicate with staff and volunteers
  • Ability to terminate a variety of AVL cabling (ex. CAT cable, SDI cable, XLR cable, and DMX cable)
  • Deep understanding of video and graphic formats with the ability to encode and ingest files into specific server systems
  • Comfortable with and understanding of responsible use of power tools, ladders, aerial lifts, and test equipment
  • Strong organizational skills and a high level of detail
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently in carrying out assignments to completion
  • Excellent communication / customer service skills and ability to interface with Chase Oaks staff, guests, and members
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving environment; self-motivated
  • Ability to deal with non-routine matters, such as special projects
  • Ability to create and utilize structures made from various materials (e.g. theatrical assets)
  • Ability to use feedback as a tool for growth, not taking things personally. Able to set ego aside so the goal of the greater team can develop properly.
  • 5+ years of technical experience, working in a broadcast and or live AVL environment or another relevant field
  • 5+ years of integration
  • Reading technical drawings and manuals
  • Working in church/worship environment
  • Repairing lighting fixtures
  • Soldering components
  • Familiarity with Uibiquity & Cisco Networking
  • Familiarity with Ross Ultrix/Carbonite, Red Komodo Cameras,
  • Familiarity with Digico Quantum, Yamaha, Dante (certification), Sennheiser wireless
  • Familiarity with GrandMA 3, Resolume, Jands Vista, Cue Server, Absen LED panels
  • Familiarity with Video and Audio post-production. Premiere Pro, Davinci, ProToos.
  • Ability to create and utilize structures made from various materials (e.g. theatrical assets)
  • Ability to speak effectively and on the phone
  • Must be reachable when within working hours
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries regarding the Chase Oaks technical environment
  • Able to have grace under pressure
  • Ability to be low-stress in interpersonal communication and understand basics of conflict resolution and de-escalation
  • Strong working knowledge of Apple computers and operating systems
  • Understanding of computer networking
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook calendaring, and email
  • Basic knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Data entry skill & experience
  • Familiarity with databases

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational or college degree in a technical field desired, but not required with extensive experience
  • CTS or other AV Industry certifications desired but not required

Responsibilities

  • Ensure technical execution of weekend services at Legacy and En Español
  • Provide remote or over-the-phone support to Campus Support/Program Coordinators
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot broadcast video, audio, lighting, and computer equipment
  • Understand and operate audio, video, and lighting equipment for live and post
  • Create documentation on systems, best practices, and standards
  • Manage asset tracking system
  • Attend all assigned on-site and virtual meetings relevant to production and Chase Oaks Staff
  • Work with Production Director to help facilitate production needs for all approved events
  • Learn and develop skills in all aspects of live production and technological integration
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot computers, sound, lighting, and video systems
  • Work with Production Director around our IT and equipment needs to keep a stable environment
  • Be available Friday and Sundays for services
  • Be available to work flexible hours based on project needs
  • Be available during Christmas and/or Easter seasons for extra hours to accommodate extensive preparation and set designs
  • Provide training on audio, video, lighting, and computer systems
  • Have reliable transportation to travel to multiple campus locations
  • Collaboratively work with Production Director to execute the vision of the church around services
  • Work with Production Director to push the ministry forward in our technologies, practices and systems
  • Participating in continued development of our staff culture in the Production Team
