Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Experience reading and interpreting production-related documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Strong communication, computer, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to make decisions in a variety of production situations
  • Ability to organize tasks, schedules, and people to support efficient production
  • A continuous improvement mindset

Responsibilities

  • Oversee departmental safety and product quality by monitoring employee practices, ensuring proper PPE use, completing safety checks, and driving continuous improvement
  • Train and coach employees to fully understand procedures and expectations, work safely, meet performance standards, and build new skills through cross-training
  • Delegate work by matching skills to tasks, giving employees clear responsibility and authority, assigning fairly, and moving staff as needed
  • Promote strong morale by communicating openly, recognizing performance early, and supporting reviews with direct feedback, action planning, and confidentiality
  • Identify and recommend changes to production methods, equipment use, and working conditions to improve quality and increase efficiency
  • Assist in planning and completing goals for the department, plant, and company business plans
  • Assume the Production Supervisor’s duties when needed and coordinate with other teams to keep production running smoothly
