About The Position

Performs tasks in the operation of the micro mold and small mold production departments at Accumold. Uses the quality system and work instructions that have been established to complete the production of plastic parts correctly and independently. This position follows the bottlenecks in production output to increase meeting customer requirements. All though the position reports to one department they will move to other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Education/Experience. High school education coursework or GED required. Experience or training in plastic part manufacturing. Understands measuring and inspection equipment used to monitor quality. Ability to understand mechanical concepts used in production.
  • Computer Skills. Ability to perform basic tasks using Windows operating system. Openness to learning IQMS operating system, ISMECA operating testing system and other software programs used in production.
  • Language Skills. Ability to read, comprehend, and utilize instructions and short correspondence with coworkers and supervisors. Ability to effectively present information to other employees, in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Mathematical Skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and understand specification drawings for inspection purposes.
  • Reasoning Ability. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a number of concrete variables. Ability to follow simple verbal instructions.
  • Other Skills and Abilities. Willingness to attend classes or training to enhance and update knowledge and skills.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities. None.
  • Physical Demands. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to sit/stand and use hand to manipulate very small parts or tweezers. Sense of touch may be used to detect texture, burs, and edges. Frequent movement throughout the facility is required. Normal or corrected to normal vision (20/20) is required with good color vision, close vision, and ability to use microscope and adjust focus. May be required to move or transport up to 55 lbs.
  • Work Environment. The duties of this job are executed in a climate-controlled environment with few temperature or humidity extremes. Noise levels will vary from very low to moderate depending on the location that the work is performed within the facility. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This role will require the individual to move from department to department to support business demands. Additional training and On-The-Job refresher training will be built into the position. Use of safety glasses is required. Safety shoes are optional.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a thorough understanding of the operation of micro mold, small mold, LSR, ISMECA, and manual machinery.
  • When working on ISMECA equipment, performs required IQMS lot setup, scanning parts to the machine. Follow work instructions to complete the ISMECA production testing process. This includes monitoring inventory levels and lot control.
  • Monitors assigned machines using established parameters. Following work instructions, checks assigned parts at regular intervals. Inspects product continuously to maintain highest quality parts.
  • Keeps feeder bowls adequately filled. Monitor dryer and oven trays to maintain sufficient material for production run. Regularly verifies that dryers are at an 80% fill rate to guarantee the proper dryness of material.
  • Builds upon working knowledge of machines, process, and experience to troubleshoot problems in current department assignment.
  • Measures parts and follows control plans, work instructions and standard operating procedures as required by customer and Accumold requirements.
  • Promotes efficient production practices by performing ongoing tasks necessary to ready finished product such as making boxes, proper labeling, and maintaining the integrity of raw material.
  • Communicates production problems with lead people or management as needed.
  • Other duties as required.
