About the position
The Production Support Engineer plays a crucial role in the communication and maintenance of engineering information between the factory, suppliers, and contracted labor. This position involves consulting on manufacturing processes, approving engineering deviations, maintaining drawings and bills of materials, and supporting the resolution of build issues. The engineer will work closely with New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing teams to address issues during prototype development and production, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with design engineers and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Work with NPI and manufacturing teams to capture and investigate issues during prototype locomotive development and production.
- Research issues using computer systems and 3D model interrogation.
- Contact appropriate engineers to verify root causes and solutions, escalating as necessary.
- Maintain relationships with design engineers and product definition groups, utilizing various communication tools.
- Communicate findings and possible resolutions to design engineers and track them to closure using the Process Change Request module in Reliance.
- Attend design review meetings and complete assigned actions by due dates.
- Compile and distribute weekly reports to team members.
Requirements
- B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline)
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- 6 Sigma Greenbelt certification
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and ISO 9001
- Experience in a Quality role preferred
- Prior experience as a Production Support Engineer highly preferred
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and listening skills.
