About The Position

U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a Production Supervisor in Lynchburg, VA. The successful candidate will play a key role in supervising operations while maintaining established quality standards, plant rules and minimizing operational costs.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent with trade or technical schooling preferred.
• One to three years heavy industrial manufacturing experience.
• Good verbal and written communication skills required.
• Excellent planning and organizing skills required.
• Able to effectively supervise and motivate a unionized workforce.
• One to three years' experience in quality control function performing laboratory tests or physical inspection preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and train employees on the specific responsibilities of their job.
• Assess training needs and establish on-the-job training activities.
• Counsel and discipline employees with performance and/or disciplinary problems.
• Assign work to employees and establish time schedules for timely completion.
• Coordinate departmental activities and resolve conflicts.
• Ensure employees understand expected job results, especially critical performance areas.
• Coordinate necessary safety training with the Safety Supervisor.
• Supervise pipe-finishing operation while maintaining quality standards.
• Schedule and coordinate manpower requirements to maximize skills and minimize overtime.
• Interact with Quality Control Supervisors and Maintenance Foremen.
• Assure departmental employees have required materials and supplies.
• Generate necessary reports as designated by the Production Manager.
• Assist in handling employee grievances.
• Understand and enforce all work rules and regulations.
• Supervise the inspection of all produced pipe.
• Ensure maintenance of all test and inspection equipment.
