About The Position

The position involves providing leadership and training to accomplish production objectives across various areas including Safety, Quality, Production, Packaging, and Maintenance. The role requires coordination of production activities with other departments to ensure timely and cost-effective achievement of production goals. The individual will work closely with the operations team to cover vacancies for planned and unplanned absences, establish and monitor shift performance standards, and accurately enter production data into the system to measure KPIs related to efficiencies, downtime, inventory, and overall production. Additionally, the role includes updating communication boards to keep team members informed about safety, quality, and efficiency metrics, leading employee start-up meetings, and collaborating with team members to control and improve efficiencies while minimizing labor overtime and repair expenses. The position also promotes shop floor organization and housekeeping using lean techniques such as 6S, acts as the first point of contact for operators regarding mechanical failures or production issues, and may conduct tool store inventory reviews. Finally, the individual will prepare and review employees' worked hours for payroll submission.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
  • A bachelor degree in engineering or technical field is a plus.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Production assembly experience is a plus.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification is a plus.
  • Previous Labor Relations experience.
  • Previous experience working in a Lean environment; embraces continuous improvement.
  • Self-directed team player.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude is a must.
  • Flexibility to work 10 to 12 hours shifts with alternate Saturdays.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and training to accomplish production objectives to all employees for Safety, Quality, Production, Packaging, and Maintenance.
  • Coordinates production activities with other departments to ensure production goals/objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Works with operations team to ensure vacancies are covered for any planned/unplanned.
  • Establishes and monitors shift performance for safety, quality, and production standards.
  • Enters production data accurately into system in order to measure and monitor KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) around efficiencies, downtime, inventory and overall production.
  • Responsible for meeting established KPI for Safety and production labor hours, etc.
  • Updates communication boards to keep production floor team members informed about safety, quality and efficiency metrics.
  • Leads employee start-up meetings.
  • Works with other team members to control and improve efficiencies, minimize labor overtime, downtime and repair expenses.
  • Implements cost-effective systems around this as necessary.
  • Promotes shop floor organization, plant housekeeping with employees lean utilizing techniques such as 6S with shift personnel.
  • Acts as first point of contact for operators regarding mechanical failure or production issues.
  • Directs maintenance employees to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform preventative maintenance.
  • May conduct tool store inventory reviews to ensure proper tools and/or parts are available for use in the event they are needed.
  • Prepares and reviews employees' worked hours for submission to payroll.
