About The Position

Production Supervisor will be responsible for providing supervisory coverage for the packaging, whey and production departments to maximize productivity on assigned shifts and area. This role emphasizes on safety, quality, cost and employee environment. This includes planning, assigning and directing work, addressing and resolving product, customer and employee concerns. This person carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Dairy Science, Food Science, or a related field; one to three years of supervisory experience in a food production environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Ability to define programs, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to lead, influence and motivate people.
  • Ability to understand cost containment and budgetary principles.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with good time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Actively promote and support food safety and product quality programs (i.e. GMPs, HACCP, quality and sanitation standards) and initiatives though working closely with the Quality Assurance team, plant management, operations and employees. Including conducting compliance audits.
  • Supervise and provide strong leadership, direction, support, training and development for a team production Supervisors. Oversee instruction, implementation and enforcement of policies as they relate to Saputo, operations and employee standards.
  • Monitor systems, ensure both systems protein and solid targets are maintained.
  • Ensure proper standard operating procedures are in place and being followed for production efficiency, quality of product, employee safety, and state and federal guidelines.
  • Keep record of membrane performance and coordinate with department and plant manager when to change out underperforming membranes.
  • Keep membrane maps up to date.
  • Responsible for maintaining permeate solids above 18%.
  • Monitor and improve the team safety and quality of the finished product and environment by maintaining the equipment and facility in a sanitary condition to meet regulatory, customer, and company standards, though working closely with plant sanitation and Quality Assurance.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts through the participation of team meetings and on-the-floor leadership to effectively change systems and procedures using continuous improvement methods and tools.
