The Production Supervisor is a high-visibility, floor-based leader responsible for managing hourly bakers to achieve safety, quality, and cost objectives. This role focuses on driving high-performance team culture through active coaching, rigorous attendance management, and consistent application of company policies. Reports to: Primary Accountabilities Safety Lead with safety as the highest operational priority Enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements Conduct safety observations, audits, and incident investigations Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and sustained Promote safe work practices, PPE use, and hazard awareness Food Safety & Quality Ensure compliance with GMPs, SQF Code, HACCP plans, and customer requirements Verify production activities meet approved food safety and quality specifications Ensure accurate and complete food safety and quality documentation Reinforce food safety culture through visible floor leadership Production & Operations Execute daily production plans to meet safety, quality, service, and cost targets Communicate schedules, priorities, and expectations to direct reports Monitor and control KPIs (attainment, efficiency, waste, labor, downtime) Resolve shift-level production issues and escalate as needed Ensure effective shift handoffs and operational communication Leadership & People Management Team Leadership and Performance Management Active Coaching: Act as a player-coach on the floor, providing real-time feedback to bakers on technique, speed, and safety. Identify skill gaps and coordinate cross-training to ensure a flexible workforce. Disciplinary Action: Address performance or behavioral issues immediately and fairly. Partner with HR to ensure progressive discipline is consistently followed, with all documentation remaining objective, timely, and in full alignment with company policies. Conflict Resolution: Serve as the first point of contact for floor-level disputes, maintaining a professional and respectful work environment. Time, Attendance and Administration Labor Optimization: Utilize labor management software to ensure daily staffing levels meet production demand while minimizing unnecessary overtime. Attendance Tracking: Monitor points or attendance occurrences daily. Conduct return to work interviews and address chronic absenteeism or tardiness through the formal disciplinary process. Payroll Integrity: Perform daily audits of baker timecards for accuracy regarding missed punches. Approve all hours on a daily basis and ensure that timecards are finalized for payroll review according to communicated deadlines. Resource Allocation: Dynamically reassign bakers during the shift based on skill sets and real-time production bottlenecks OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT Efficiency Monitoring: Monitor line efficiencies, downtime, and labor utilization. Audit and correct downtime codes for data accuracy to ensure proper root cause solutions and resource allocation. Inventory and Reporting: Ensure accurate inventory usage against reported consumption of raw and packaging materials using ERP software. Report on the previous day’s metrics and create action plans to report to senior leadership. Sense of Urgency: Act with a sense of urgency during downtime events and escalate to leadership as defined. Ensure the team is always providing value-added work.
