About The Position

PURPOSE OF ROLE: Assist packaging staff in day-to-day operations of packaging lines and collaborate with Packaging Manager to ensure safety and production goals are achieved. To ensure FF&S Lines and Box Lines meet desired production levels and are efficiently maintained. Follow OEM SOP to meet Preventative Maintenance Instructions, and ensure Corrective Maintenance is effectively executed. To collaborate with Site Maintenance team to plan, efficiently schedule, and execute maintenance related work orders and tasks. Will also review processes and procedures on an on-going basis, to seek new and innovative ways to improve efficiencies, and enhance safety practices. Maintain the facility’s equipment in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. On a daily basis, inspect, and perform minor maintenance and calibrations on packaging lines or other equipment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable knowledge of Bag Packaging Lines (FF&S), Palletizers, bags printing, labeling systems and conveying systems
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance and production planning.
  • Knowledge of proper PPE use and requirements
  • Functional knowledge of handling rail cars.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office programs like: Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams.
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interface with and motivate all levels of personnel.
  • Good math, language, writing and reading skills
  • Knowledge and use of basic hand tools, I&E equipment (Multimeter, Meggers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, energy isolation, lockout, JSAs, and line breaking procedures.
  • Ability to work on high voltage and to work near exposed energized electrical lines.
  • Minimum 5 years in related positions or within an industrial environment with knowledge of methods, principles, practices of operating, maintaining, and repairing associated packaging machinery as well as electrical, mechanical and instrumentation knowledge.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Able to read, write and comprehend English

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to communicate and understand in Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, monitor, coordinate, and prioritize the activities of packaging line employees.
  • To keep open and constant communication level with Maintenance department
  • Complete Daily/regular assessment of critical components of each production line (e.g. conveyors, rollers, gearmotors, chains, pneumatic components, valves and other related electrical, automation and mechanical equipment).
  • Execute troubleshooting and root cause analysis during corrective maintenance on main production lines and equipment.
  • Participating in Weekly Production Planning sessions
  • Lead daily toolbox talks and meetings to discuss safety and maintenance related issues or topics.
  • Work in a safe manner and follow all company rules and policies concerning safety and PPE and ensure that we have a productive, safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
  • Maintain productivity and quality levels as set by the Packaging Manager.
  • Identify damages and report overages/shortages for quality deficiencies.
  • Manage Production Line(s) related to Work Orders.
  • Maintain regular contact with Maintenance Manager to provide up to date on Production Lines availability and Work Orders status.
  • Revise all PMIs (Preventive Maintenance Instructions) and to keep them up to date.
  • Identify the team’s training needs and address them with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Assist Packaging Manager with performance evaluations within the department.
  • Commit to OCS Blue & OSHA Safety facility Standard
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the Packaging Manager.
