About The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leadership and supervision of production team members, ensuring optimal team performance and accountability. This includes organizing daily work assignments, monitoring team progress, and ensuring staffing levels meet operational needs. The supervisor conducts daily shift meetings to communicate production goals, quality standards, and safety expectations, and maintains open and effective communication across departments. They identify training needs, drive efficiency and continuous improvement, assist with training plan development, and conduct on-the-job training. The role also involves production oversight, monitoring schedules, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring adherence to SOPs. Safety and compliance are key, requiring promotion and enforcement of safety culture, compliance with OSHA standards, regular safety audits, and participation in incident investigations. Quality assurance involves collaboration with Quality teams to meet product standards and leading corrective actions for defects. The supervisor supports Lean Manufacturing principles and identifies improvements in productivity, quality, cost, and team member engagement. Administrative duties include completing accurate shift reports, performance metrics, production documentation, leading performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and hiring recommendations, tracking attendance, and safeguarding confidential information.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, including at least one year in a supervisory role
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, safety compliance, and quality standards (e.g., ISO/TS/IATF)
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams using collaborative and performance-based methods
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of production operations, manufacturing processes, and basic mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA), lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement practices

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field
  • Familiarity with ERP or MES systems

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and mentor production Team members to ensure optimal team performance and accountability.
  • Organize daily work assignments, monitor team progress, and ensure staffing levels meet operational needs.
  • Conduct daily shift meetings to communicate production goals, quality standards, and safety expectations.
  • Maintain open and effective communication across departments, including coordination between supply and customer lines.
  • Identify training needs, drive efficiency and continuous improvement, assist with the development of training plans, and conduct on-the-job training as needed.
  • Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of work orders while minimizing downtime.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with maintenance, quality, and engineering teams as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Flexes across lines to increase efficiency.
  • Promote and enforce a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform Layered Process Audits (LPAs) and ensure compliance with company safety policies, PPE standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Quality teams to ensure that all products meet internal and customer Quality standards.
  • Lead containment and corrective actions when defects or non-conformities are identified.
  • Support and implement Lean Manufacturing principles, Kaizen events, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and recommend improvements in productivity, quality, cost, and Team member engagement.
  • Complete accurate shift reports, performance metrics, and production documentation.
  • Lead and participate in performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and hiring recommendations.
  • Track attendance and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Safeguard confidential information and ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
