Position Summary: Responsible for managing, directing and coordinating production activities while complying with quality and safety policies and procedures to meet company goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience supervising production personnel
  • Due to contractual requirements, this position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a contract manufacturing environment, preferably a machine shop
  • Engineering background highly desirable
  • Experience with lean manufacturing implementation preferred
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to read blueprints/drawings
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve company goals and objectives

  • Experience working in an ERP system (Epicor a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Plan, assign, and direct daily duties for manufacturing personnel; provides direction on the allocation of resources to maintain production deadlines
  • Responsible for monitoring production throughput and planning adjustments such as expediting operations which have fallen behind schedule
  • Provide daily communication with management, particularly of unforeseen events which may contribute to manufacturing delays
  • Be available for and manage daily shift turn-over in Deburring
  • Participate in the recruiting, hiring and training of new employees for the Deburring department
  • Responsible for direct management of department personnel; includes annual performance reviews, pay increases, authorization of overtime and PTO, verbal and written disciplinary action
  • Ensure that all Deburring employees work in accordance with SOPs and industry standards
  • Execute setup and/or operation of manufacturing equipment for the Deburring department
  • Lead by example, including working side by side with production employees to understand and remove barriers to throughput.
  • Identify needs for custom ERP reports that would improve manufacturing efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Assist in order planning, for example lot sizes, job quantities and Kanban quantities
  • Provide input on improvement to methods, operations and production rate inaccuracies
  • Collaborate with purchasing to proactively coordinate with O/S providers to meet critical due dates
  • Assist in resolving discrepancies in time reporting, open quantities, shortages, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for lean manufacturing training and implementation i.e., set up reduction, 5S, and other opportunities for improvement
