Establishes and maintains the shop’s safety, quality, cost, and delivery goals and objectives. Manages and motivates their staff to ensure continuous productivity improvements in cost, production, and product quality. Coordinates the development of subordinates and new ideas for improvement. Ensures the assigned department meets established safety, quality, cost, and time KPIs.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and analyze reports.
  • Detail-oriented with project planning experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a highly automated or automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a work leader role coordinating the work of other employees or contractors.
  • Training new employees, assigning work, and checking the timeliness and quality of work.
  • A High School Diploma is required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer applications to output reports with similar non-creative formats.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of Nissan manufacturing or 1 year in a leadership role.
  • A related degree from an accredited four-year college is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides the production area’s mid to long-term project planning direction and support along the way.
  • Reports zone progress regarding production, quality, safety, and budgetary compliance.
  • Promotes a safe work environment and maintains an atmosphere of trust and positive morale for the assigned zone.
  • Leads planning for changes or modifications to zone processes & equipment.
  • Works cross-functionally with Maintenance, Engineering, and Production for Quality Assurance
  • Supervises and provides leadership, coaching, guidance, training, and staff development; interviews and selects employees; plans and evaluates employee performance; counsels and disciplines employees as necessary; recommends termination when appropriate; and monitors the time and attendance of subordinates.
  • Interfaces and communicates with internal departments to ensure production targets are met and provides countermeasures for zone concerns.
  • Provides input for performance reviews.
  • Creates weekend planning for rework activities.
  • As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.
