About The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the assignment and direction of daily activities of production personnel as they relate to safety, product quality, production schedule attainment, and employee development.

Requirements

  • Education required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience preferred: Minimum five years’ experience in the supervision of production in an engineered product environment. Fastener experience is desired.
  • Experience working in a union environment is preferred.
  • Special skills needed: Ability to read, write, understand and speak the English language fluently. Ability to read safety rules, instructions, procedure manuals, blueprints, etc. Ability to analyze, write and communicate the contents of reports & correspondences.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
  • Ability to create and maintain team building relationships within the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to tactfully handle difficult situations.
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to recognize and respond to changing priorities.
  • Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses in others and shift responsibilities to take advantage of strengths and overcome weaknesses.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure in an ever-changing environment

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with maintenance, quality assurance and scheduling to achieve optimal efficiency and quality and ensure delivery goals are met.
  • Ensure labor and inventory reporting accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain Team Member accountability for all issues pursuant to company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all safety procedures and policies. Responsible for completion of shift-applicable injury, property damage and near-miss investigation reports as well as corrective and preventative actions.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards/5S throughout the shop floor.
  • Plan daily work assignments, and clearly communicate to personnel what duties they will be performing and what the production target is.
  • Maintain departmental discipline, enforce company policies, and monitor attendance together with HR for each employee.
  • Interview and make recommendations regarding additional or replacement personnel as needed.
  • Recommend wage adjustments, counseling and promotions/demotions for employees when warranted.
  • Work with departmental leaders to train new employees and document the process as training progresses.
  • Communicate with other supervisors and departments as needed to maintain efficiency and keep prod uct moving through plant
  • Support the achievement of departmental targets and quality objectives each day.
  • Must lead by example in work ethic, attendance, people skills, and general communication
