About The Position

At STERIS, we help our Customers create a healthier and safer world by providing innovative healthcare and life science product and service solutions around the globe. As a Production Supervisor you will lead a team of skilled and semi-skilled workers in various aspects of processing, maintenance, and warehousing functions for the STERIS Applied Sterilization Technologies (AST) plant location in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. In this role you will be responsible for the selection, training, and work direction for your team, and employ key company processes to effectively achieve results. The Production Supervisor will positively influence employee engagement and maintain a positive work culture and employee relations environment. You will supervise production for Shift A: Hours are 6 PM to 6 AM Sunday to Tuesday and Wednesday 6 PM to Midnight. Then enjoy a long weekend with 3 1/2 days off starting Wednesday afternoon and all-day Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in regulated industry. Manufacturing, processing or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to learn science of sterilization modalities for sterile processing of medical instruments.
  • Understanding of the four basic functions of mathematics as it applies to a production environment.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to conduct team meetings.
  • Ability to effectively employ delegation, collaboration, conflict resolution skills in a team environment.
  • Microsoft Office (Knowledge of MS Office 365 including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree.
  • Experience as working as a Team Lead or demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Experience driving a fork truck or forklift. Qualified Equipment Operator or Certified Forklift Operator.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a shop floor culture focused on the achievement of the businesses' objectives in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC), by continuously focusing on waste elimination and following standard work.
  • Leads daily SQDC board meetings, trains and develops employees to meet expectations, ensures the working environment is safe through direct monitoring of behavior and equipment, incident response, mitigation and investigation as issues occur during the shift, and providing individual and group feedback on successes and opportunities to improve performance.
  • Identifies opportunities for countermeasures and participates in facility lean committees.
  • Supports the company's Lean business system, through participation in Kaizen events, participation in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), One Team One Goal (OTOG) Customer Service training/ participation.
  • Acts as first point of contact for mitigation and investigation of issues related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Drives employee engagement by implementing and using Lean processes.
  • Creates an environment of positive employee relations by creating a safe and productive work environment, listening to and addressing employee concerns, enforcing company policy and constructively managing employee performance.
  • Interviews and selects new employees and assures the team has necessary skill and tools to complete work; ensures that shifts are properly staffed and assigns daily work to achieve objectives and ensure smooth shift transitions.
  • Assesses skill level and performance, and addresses gaps ensuring employees are capable of meeting expectations.
  • Collaborates across functions with Quality, Human Resources, and Planning, and supports customer quality audits.
  • Ensures appropriate performance levels and tracks KPI across a range of activities and standard process metrics. Updates SQDC boards.
