About The Position

The Production Supervisor role at Tyson Foods is a critical position responsible for overseeing production operations, ensuring high quality and safety standards, and leading a team of production workers. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Special training, vocational school, and/or college courses preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in food manufacturing.
  • 6+ months of supervisory experience in a production environment, desirably in food manufacturing highly preferred.
  • Ability to become HACCP certified within 90 days of hire with Tyson (training provided by Tyson).
  • 3+ months of experience with inventory control methods preferred.
  • Strong computer skills to navigate systems, perform data entry and analysis, and problem-solve. Use of EIM Inventory Control and Plant View preferred.
  • Must have an essential understanding and control of the production process, accurate record keeping, and general line maintenance and staffing.
  • Ability to read and communicate production schedule and determine product specifications and information.
  • Analytical skills - ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
  • Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect team member safety.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Accountable to self and to others - owns and demonstrates support for business decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
  • Ability to work professionally and respectfully with others.

  • Ability to report to work as scheduled and work scheduled hours to meet job expectations, including weekends (Saturdays and occasional Sundays).
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs to get to/from work areas, and work at elevated levels.
  • Ability to work in an environment where extreme temperatures range seasonally from hot/warm (80-90°F) to cold (20-40°F), where conditions may be damp and/or wet, and concrete floors may be slippery in some areas.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. below waist, at waist level, and above shoulder level.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop, twist, stretch, push, pull, and reach above, across, below, and at shoulder level.
  • Ability to flex/grip with wrists/hands and use tools (e.g., box knife, metal scraper).
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net / beard guard, steel-toed boots, and gloves.
  • Must reside in the United States to be considered. No sponsorship available with this position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains high production, quality, and yields while ensuring the safest working environment possible.
  • Checks daily production orders to ensure fulfillment of customer orders, ensuring every position is filled before start-up of production line.
  • Oversees team member morning exercises and job rotations to facilitate ergonomics.
  • Ensures all machinery is performing to the highest standards possible.
  • Ensures all workstations have passed USDA Inspection.
  • Promotes safety on a daily basis, including safety contacts, as well as through monthly safety meetings.
  • Ensures accurate shipments, rotation of inventory, and proper coding of products.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to team members regarding employment-related matters.
  • Ensures team members receive necessary job training and development, including cross-training to perform in other roles when needed.
  • Monitors and approves work time and attendance.
  • Communicates and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures, and communicates regularly and as needed on plant initiatives.
  • Owns and demonstrates support for business decisions.
  • Maintains a positive work environment and achieves retention/turnover goals.
  • Addresses team member performance/conduct issues through coaching and the disciplinary process, as needed.
  • Works with team members to identify and facilitate developmental opportunities for retention and career growth.
  • Ensures self and team members are accountable to job performance and demonstrating Tyson's Code of Conduct expectations, including dignity and respect, and adherence to Tyson Food's 5Cs.
  • Oversees various processing operations and works with other supervisors in solving problems, keeping records of reworked or returned product, and providing continuous education on the importance of quality and safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
