About The Position

The Supervisor is responsible for leading daily operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role balances people leadership, process oversight, and compliance with company standards, while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports for business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Familiarity with customer and company part #'s, blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to use computers with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Access and other data collection systems.
  • Excellent typing skills required.
  • Must be detail and quality oriented.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction/supervision along with ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe and orderly work environment by leading daily safety talks, encouraging hazard recognition, and reinforcing accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Identify and address unsafe conditions or practices, escalate potential emergency situations, and ensure timely incident reporting.
  • Support safety pledges, LPA (Layered Process Audits), and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Ensure all products meet established quality standards through adherence to Work Instructions and controlled processes.
  • Lead root cause investigations on suspect parts (target at least one per shift) and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote process improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen quality assurance.
  • Coordinate daily activities to maintain balanced workflow and achieve production targets.
  • Monitor OAE (Overall Asset Effectiveness) and production schedules, adjusting headcount and resources as needed to stay on track.
  • Collaborate with Production Control, Maintenance, and previous/next shift Supervisors to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Accurately complete shift production reports, including downtime, headcount, and maintenance updates.
  • Lead by example, modeling teamwork, accountability, humility, and adaptability to change.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and support operators and technicians to reinforce performance expectations.
  • Encourage employee engagement through recognition, celebrating achievements (e.g., 5S certifications), and promoting shared ownership.
  • Address employee concerns fairly and promptly; escalate unresolved issues to management when necessary.
  • Support performance management including appraisals, attendance, discipline, and rewards.
  • Facilitate daily shift meetings, clearly communicating priorities, performance expectations, and updates.
  • Ensure effective cross-shift communication to prevent silos and improve alignment.
  • Collaborate with other Supervisors and departments to coordinate resources and resolve issues.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and communicate organizational changes effectively.
  • Escalate and support resolution of equipment downtime, ensuring areas remain clean and accessible for maintenance.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy: prevent overstock, misplacement, and support hold cage/sorting activities.
  • Partner with Shipping and other teams to maintain clean, organized inventory zones.
  • Participate in monthly cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and disciplinary actions.
  • Approve timecards, overtime, and shift-related paperwork.
  • Be available to assist with phone calls, paperwork, or plant shutdown procedures (particularly on off-shifts).
  • Work scheduled overtime as required alongside shift team members.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
