The position leads all assembly operations within the plant, coordinating the work of various production departments. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of all assembly processes, as well as a continual awareness of customer shipping requirements, work schedules, and quality levels. The individual will be responsible for staffing to meet production schedules, managing the ratio of indirect to direct labor, and overseeing the overall cost of operations with a focus on profit and loss. The primary goal is to ensure that parts are produced on schedule while maintaining quality and minimizing costs. In addition to operational oversight, the position involves analyzing and determining material, equipment, and staffing requirements by studying daily operating results. This includes conducting daily meetings with subordinates and maintaining daily contact with various department heads to identify and resolve production problems. The role emphasizes fostering close cooperation between departments to enhance overall productivity. The individual will also be responsible for identifying, implementing, and verifying continuous improvement opportunities within the assembly operations. Compliance with shop floor standards such as BOS, 5S, and company policies is crucial, as is the overall quality of the products produced. The position holds the authority to identify quality issues, halt production if necessary, determine root causes, and initiate corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Participation in audits and other preventative measures is also expected. Motivating and directing the training of all production personnel is a key responsibility. This includes selecting competent individuals, training and developing staff by leveraging their strengths and addressing weaknesses, and instilling a sense of responsibility towards the company and their colleagues. The individual will evaluate and communicate progress to each subordinate to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain high morale among the production team. Acting as a liaison with managers and staff, the position requires effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders. The individual will jointly establish objectives for team members based on an analysis of their job functions. Understanding and participating in Health, Safety, Environment, and Energy (HSE&E) practices is essential, including reporting accidents and ensuring compliance with safety procedures in assigned production areas. The role may also involve performing other related tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager or Plant Manager.
