About The Position

This position is responsible for providing shift leadership while monitoring production performance and maintaining maximum output and quality on scheduled equipment. Develops, motivates, and supervises employees by setting goals and objectives with accountability for results. Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of plant experience, to include supervisory experience.
  • Experience with business computer applications (Microsoft Office). SAP or similar software experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of production process to include conversion/extrusion.
  • Strong leadership skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Effective communication skills, effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
  • Work in a team-based environment.
  • Work shift schedule, including overtime. May be assigned to other shifts as needed. Shift schedule may include late nights and weekends.
  • Set and manage multiple priorities.
  • Complete forklift certification program
  • Follow directions and get along well with others.
  • Develop Interdepartmental relations with other teams to build success throughout the business.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to communicate orally and written in English.
  • Ability to calculate figures by using basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in a safe manner; actively promote a safety-first culture.
  • Conduct regular walkarounds to observe safety practices, line conditions, and employee behavior.
  • Lead Safety Toolbox Talks and ensure completion of STEP program criteria for all employees.
  • Respond to and report near misses, injuries, accidents, or property damage. Initiate investigations and complete required documentation.
  • Conduct Single Event Analysis; ensure thorough documentation and follow-up.
  • Perform security checks during off-hours/weekends to ensure plant integrity.
  • Monitor daily and weekly KPIs: OEE, Yield, Material Variance, and Utilization.
  • Develop and execute action plans to reduce top 3 sources of waste or downtime per shift.
  • Review production reports for errors and escalate discrepancies.
  • Ensure adherence to production schedules; provide feedback and suggestions to Planning Team.
  • Complete shift reports with process conditions and submit timely.
  • Lead Daily Control Room meetings; facilitate cross-functional issue resolution.
  • Maintain Daily Control Whiteboards with accurate data for team visibility.
  • Check staffing levels at shift start; monitor attendance and document absences.
  • Plan staffing one week in advance, accounting for certifications, training needs, and time-off requests.
  • Post overtime as needed to maintain coverage.
  • Coach employees to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Communicate employee concerns to Production Manager and HR.
  • Attend daily shift handover meetings with peer Supervisors and Area Leads.
  • Manage UKG Time and Attendance system (Workforce Management).
  • Assist operators with computer or system issues; escalate to IT support as needed.
  • Support SAP corrections for own and other shifts.
  • Verify truck loading during gate calls against weekend/night load schedules.
  • Communicate meeting notes and updates to production floor promptly.
  • Lead 5S improvement projects; identify target areas and drive team action.
  • Keep management informed of process issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.
