Position Overview Zelis is growing—and we’re seeking a hands-on Production Shift Lead to join our state-of-the-art Production Facility in Tempe, AZ. This facility processes and mails over 1.4 million packages daily for more than 500 clients, making it a vital hub in our mission to transform healthcare communications. As a Production Shift Lead , you’ll provide direction and leadership to the production team while ensuring smooth operations. This role combines leadership, technical expertise, and hands-on involvement with production equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 3–4 years of experience in a production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions.
  • Basic computer skills (data entry, etc.).
  • Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Lift 50 lbs or more.
  • Work flexible hours, including peak season (Oct 15–Jan 31).
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Maintain excellent attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work and monitor the flow of printing and inserting based on priorities.
  • Assist operators, track productivity, quality results, pallet completions, and other production metrics.
  • Support post-production teams (QC & Warehouse) to meet shipping deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with the Production Supervisor.
  • Conduct sign-offs on job setups and reloads.
  • Open and update Production Jira issues as needed.
  • Maintain positive, collaborative relationships with team members.
  • Troubleshoot issues and recommend improvements to the Production Supervisor.
  • Step in for the Shift Production Supervisor when needed.
  • Cross-train on all roles within the production facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Set up and operate equipment according to job specifications.
  • Ensure output meets quality standards; troubleshoot and adjust as needed.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Track job time when requested.
  • Notify the Production Supervisor of quality issues or reprints.
  • Follow SOPs, HIPAA, compliance, and safety guidelines.
