About The Position

The Production Shift Lead I plays a critical role in leading and supporting frontline production operations during assigned shifts. This role is responsible for coordinating daily activities, ensuring quality standards are met, and driving productivity goals in a fast-paced solar panel manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving and team development.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment; solar or electronics manufacturing a plus.
  • 1+ year of leadership experience in a production or team lead role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, quality control, and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual in English and Spanish or Mandarin is a plus.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
  • Proficient with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, production tracking systems).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs. throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of production operators and line leads across the assigned shift to meet safety, quality, and production targets.
  • Monitor daily production output, identify issues, and proactively escalate operational or personnel concerns to supervisors or managers.
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality standards throughout the shift.
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Conduct shift start-up meetings and ensure all employees understand daily objectives and safety guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with other shift leads and departments to ensure smooth handoffs and continuity of operations.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment and escalate technical issues to maintenance or engineering teams.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of shift activities, production data, and personnel attendance.
  • Promote a safe and clean work environment by enforcing safety protocols and reporting any incidents immediately.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and support lean manufacturing initiatives.
