About The Position

The Production Scheduler position involves liaising with the Demand Inventory Analyst and is responsible for managing and delivering a production schedule that meets customer requirements and optimizes factory efficiency. This role entails creating, communicating, and actively assisting Production in executing the schedule, maintaining and controlling the digital schedule, and serving as the primary contact for customer service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work with 5-7 years experience in manufacturing (raw material scheduling, customer service, and/or inventory control)
  • Strong working knowledge of effective supply chain performance including supply planning, customer service, supplier and asset management
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, MS Teams)
  • SAP knowledge and MRP experience
  • Customer focus, detail oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team oriented environment
  • Ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment
  • Supply Chain experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist with on-time shipments to customer by utilizing production schedule
  • Organize and optimize products into a schedule that optimizes factory efficiency and meets customer delivery requirements
  • Ensure planned orders are completed to support on time delivery and meet site KPI’s
  • Manage product additions to the current schedule due to reject material or urgent customer orders
  • Maintain the structure and order of the schedule once prepared and submitted to appropriate departments
  • Communicate the production schedule to Production, Sales, and Reading Management, ensuring open communication to stakeholders and changes
  • Update and optimize the flow of products through the factory by monitoring performance and making necessary adjustments to the schedule
  • Ensure materials and equipment are pre-arranged for production
  • Actively develop and coordinate production schedules daily or weekly to meet site objectives
  • Forecast, expedite, make immediate changes, and manage lead time with multiple systems and demands
  • Create and maintain master schedules to meet production goals, deadlines, and customer needs
  • Promote the quality system by adhering to its elements, philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, and procedures
  • Participate in the Reading Safety Journey by ensuring compliance with all applicable safety regulations (AkzoNobel and regulatory)
  • Attend and participate in Nashville Plant Programs/Committees/Training as required (e.g., Department Safety, Plant Safety, Behavioural Safety, Housekeeping Audit Teams, ISO, Life Saving Rules)
  • Actively participate in BBS program in Nashville and all other safety processes
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement efforts in Reading, working towards process improvement, inventory reduction/levelling, reduced scheduling effort, increased production efficiency, accurate delivery date quotes, and real-time information
  • Participate in inventory cycle count process with the Logistics Specialist and the Plant
  • Issue monthly updates of quarter-end inventory and projections for finished goods, providing unit and dollar value figures and analysis of significant changes
  • Work in close cooperation with Plant Scheduler and Supervisors, Demand Analyst, Logistics Specialist to ensure optimized site performance
  • Work with managers to execute and implement process improvements
